Born in Cornwall, England, in 1911 and educated at Oxford University, William Gerald Golding's first book, Poems, was published in 1935. Following a stint in the Royal Navy and other diversions during and after World War II, Golding wrote Lord of the Flies while teaching school. This was the first of several novels including Pincher Martin, Free Fall, and The Inheritors and a play, The Brass Butterfly, which led to his being awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1983.Edward Morgan Forster was born in London in 1879, attended Tonbridge School as a day boy, and went on to King’s College, Cambridge, in 1897. With King’s he had a lifelong connection and was elected to an Honorary Fellowship in 1946. He declared that his life as a whole had not been dramatic, and he was unfailingly modest about his achievements. Interviewed by the BBC on his eightieth birthday, he said: ‘I have not written as much as I’d like to . . . I write for two reasons: partly to make money and partly to win the respect of people whom I respect . . . I had better add that I am quite sure I am not a great novelist.’ Eminent critics and the general public have judged otherwise and in his obituary The Times called him ‘one of the most esteemed English novelists of his time’.He wrote six novels, four of which appeared before the First World War, Where Angels Fear to Tread (1905), The Longest Journey (1907), A Room with a View (1908), and Howard’s End (1910). An interval of fourteen years elapsed before he published A Passage to India. It won both the Prix Femina Vie Heureuse and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. Maurice, his novel on a homosexual theme, finished in 1914, was published posthumously in 1971. He also published two volumes of short stories; two collections of essays; a critical work, Aspects of the Novel; The Hill of Devi, a fascinating record of two visits Forster made to the Indian State of Dewas Senior; two biographies; two books about Alexandria (where he worked for the Red Cross in the First World War); and, with Eric Crozier, the libretto for Britten’s opera Billy Budd. He died in June 1970.

Inhalt:Es geht darum, dass eine Gruppe von Jugendlichen vor einem Atomkrieg evakuiert wird- durch einen Flugzeugabsturz landen sie auf einer unbewohnten paradiesischen Insel. Auf sich Allein gestellt, fernab vom Schutz der Eltern, der Polizei oder Gesetzen, müssen die Jugendlichen selbst Entschlüsse fällen, Verantwortung übernehmen und miteinander agieren. Sie schaffen eine eigene Regierungsform, wählen Führungspositionen und müssen Gesetze schaffen... Mit der Zeit wandelt sich das Verhalten der unschuldigen Jugendlichen und so mancher wird begierig nach Macht, und aus unschuldigen, werden Mörder...Zum Inhalt/ Verständnis:Ich habe es als Klassenlektüre lesen müssen und lasse hier auch das Feedback der restlichen Klasse einfließen (4.Klasse einer BAFEP)-Das "Englisch" ist schwer zu verstehen, und eine echte Herausforderung, weil viele Landschaftsbeschreibungen vorkommen die vom eigentlichen Inhalt ablenken und schweres Vokabular abverlangen. Die Grundzüge, wie die Beziehungen der einzelnen Charaktere, Ungerechtigkeiten kann jedoch trotzdem ausreichend gefolgt werden.-Der Inhalt ist, sehr komplex aber wahnsinnig spannend.-Es ist wirkt sehr realistisch und doch surreal.-Der Autor nimmt einen mit auf ein Gedankenexperiment mit tragischem Ausgang, das Buch drückt aus was man selbst nie denken würde.Verpackung und Ankunft:Es kam sehr schnell an, wie von Amazon gewohnt.- jedoch waren die Kanten des Buches leider beschädigt worden. Mich haben diese Abnützungen nicht weiter gestört, jedoch hätte ich wohl so auch gleich ein gebrauchtes Buch bestellen können. (Im Anhang die Bilder)
Würde ich das Buch danach bewerten, wie gut es mir gefallen hat, wäre vermutlich ein Stern noch zu viel. Ich habe es als "Pflichtlektüre" für eine Englisch-Prüfung gelesen und mich durch die Seiten gequält. Nur, nicht alles, was gefällt, ist gut. Und nicht alles, was nicht gefällt, ist schlecht. Das Buch beschreibt auf sehr kluge Art und Weise die (wahre) Natur des Menschen. Es wirft viele moralische Fragen auf. Meinen Respekt hat der Autor für dieses Werk allemal!
Ich habe das Buch 2x gelesen. Einmal privat (habe nach 150 Seiten aufgehört, weil ich es so langweilig fand), dann im Englisch-LK. Da habe ich gelernt, dieses Buch zu lieben :-)Lord of the Flies ist ein Buch, das es wert ist sich intensiv damit auseinanderzusetzen. Es beinhalten dermaßen viele Symbole, Verhaltensweisen und Ausdrucksweisen der Kinder, mit denen man sich eingehend beschäftigen kann um z.B. psychologische Veränderungen festzustellen.Wir haben es mit unserer Lehrerin im Englisch-LK aufgearbeitet und es hat mir sehr gut gefallen, aber eben mit Hilfe einer Lehrkraft, die jede Facette dieses Buches erklären konnte.Leute, die diese Möglichkeit nicht haben würde ich sparknotes.com ans Herz legen. Eine kostenlose Seite, die Interpretationen zur Verfügung stellt. Damit, macht es unheimlich viel Spaß, dieses Buch zu lesen und daraus auch etwas zu lernen.
Ein tolles Buch!Es macht großen Spaß, es zu lesen, und es ist, wie auch in der Einleitung von Steven King bereits angesprochen, sehr realistisch und die Handlungen sind vorstellbar.Das Englisch ist gut zu verstehen, es ist nicht zu schwer, für Anfänger ist das Buch dennoch nicht so gut geeignet.Ansonsten ist das Buch spannend und sehr mitreißend!

The book was delivered within a few days, the box was too small so it was slightly damaged but everything else was ok. It's a good book even though it's not easy to understand if english isn't your mother tongue.
..den man ruhig gelesen haben sollte im Sinne einer Versuchsanordnung zur menschlichen Psyche... sehr bedrückend. Kinder an die Macht? Nach dieser Lektüre eher nicht... Trotzdem kommt man nicht mehr los, lässt sich erschüttern und denkt unablässig, wo bleibt die Autonomie, die Verantwortung, das Mitgefühl.... grauenhaft!!!
